I. Classification and Applications
Air cylinder mounting types are classified as:
Type A, vertical or inclined air cylinders;
Type B, horizontal air cylinder;
Marine low-pressure air cylinders are primarily used to store compressed air for starting the ship’s main and auxiliary engines, sounding the whistle, and other miscellaneous applications.
II. Structural Features
Type A vertical or inclined air cylinders consist primarily of a cylinder head valve and a steel cylindrical shell. The shell is equipped with a manway (or access port) to facilitate inspection and maintenance. The cylinder head valve is fitted with an inlet valve, an outlet valve, a safety valve, a pressure gauge and its associated valve, a relief valve, and other components.
Type B horizontal air cylinders are primarily composed of a steel cylindrical shell, end heads, a manway assembly, an inlet valve, an outlet valve, a safety valve, a pressure gauge and its valve, a vent valve, and a mounting base.
III. Ordering Instructions
1. Air cylinders are classified by capacity.
2. Selection may be made in accordance with CB/T 493-1998.
3. Design and manufacture non-standard air cylinders according to the specified parameters.
IV. Scope of Application for Pressure Vessels
1. Marine and land-based diesel engines, pressure vessels, hot-water tanks, gas storage tanks, diesel-engine starting air bottles, and pneumatic air bottles, among others.
