I. Classification and Applications
The installation methods for air cylinders are as follows:
Type A, vertical or inclined air cylinders;
Type B, horizontal air cylinder;
Marine low-pressure air cylinders are primarily used to store compressed air for starting main and auxiliary engines, sounding the ship’s whistle, and other miscellaneous applications.
II. Structural Features
Type A vertical or inclined air cylinders consist primarily of a cylinder head valve and a steel cylindrical shell. The shell is equipped with a manway (or inspection port) to facilitate inspection and maintenance. The cylinder head valve is fitted with an inlet valve, an outlet valve, a safety valve, a pressure gauge and its associated valve, as well as a relief valve, among other components.
Type B horizontal air cylinders are primarily composed of a steel cylinder shell, end heads, manway assemblies, inlet valves, outlet valves, safety valves, pressure gauges and gauge valves, vent valves, and mounting bases.
III. Ordering Instructions
1. Air cylinders are classified by capacity.
2. Selection may be made in accordance with CB/T 493-1998.
3. Design and manufacture non-standard air cylinders according to the specified parameters.
IV. Scope of Application for Pressure Vessels
1. Marine and land-based diesel engines, pressure vessels, hot-water tanks, gas storage tanks, diesel-engine starting air bottles, and pneumatic air bottles, among others.
