Marine air cylinders are among the critical components of a vessel and must be handled with care, as they are subject to stringent requirements. The following aspects should be observed during their use: 1. During operation of self-contained marine air cylinders, the pressure gauge must be monitored continuously. When the cylinder pressure drops below 55 ± 5 bar, the alarm whistle will sound; upon activation of the alarm, personnel shall evacuate the hazardous area as quickly as possible.

Marine air cylinders have stringent usage requirements.

Marine air cylinders are among the critical components of a vessel and must be handled with care due to their stringent requirements. The following aspects should be carefully observed when using marine air cylinders.
1. During the service life of a self-contained marine air cylinder, the pressure gauge shall be monitored at all times. When the cylinder pressure drops below 55 ± 5 bar, the alarm whistle shall sound; upon activation of the alarm, personnel shall evacuate the hazardous area as quickly as possible.
2. When using, a full-face mask must be worn, and its seal must be ensured to be tight. Individuals with thick, unkempt beards or facial hair are prohibited from using self-contained marine air cylinders. Additionally, persons with unusual facial shapes or deep scars should not use such equipment, as these conditions may compromise the mask’s airtight seal. During use, care must be taken to prevent hair from becoming trapped between the mask and the face, which could impair the seal.
3. If, during use, you detect any performance issues with the respirator or its associated breathing maintenance device, immediately leave the work area. When exiting the work area, never remove the respirator.
4. Removing the mask also requires careful attention: use your thumb to pull the hook-and-loop fastener forward, loosening the straps; then insert your thumb between the mask and your chin and gradually peel the mask off starting from the chin. When removing the mask, proceed with extreme caution to prevent inhaling harmful dust and other hazardous substances that may be adhering to its outer surface.
5. In an emergency, press the additional air supply button on the air supply valve. The airflow will increase.
Everyone recognizes the critical importance of marine air cylinders for ship operations; therefore, they must be used correctly and safely. By paying close attention to these precautions, you can prevent malfunctions that could lead to serious consequences.
