In recent years, the shipbuilding industry has grown rapidly, and related supporting facilities have also advanced; pressure water tanks, for instance, are an important component that significantly enhances onboard water supply.

In recent years, the shipbuilding industry has grown rapidly, and related supporting facilities have also advanced; pressure water tanks, for instance, are an important component that significantly enhances onboard water supply.
The manufacture and application of pressure water tanks have eliminated water-supply issues on board ships. These tanks provide the ship’s potable water, wash water, flushing water, and seawater supply systems.
A pressure water tank is a closed vessel. When the water supply from the pump exceeds the water consumption, the excess water flows into the tank. As the water level rises, it compresses the air in the upper space, and the water pressure throughout the entire supply pipeline gradually increases. When the pressure reaches (30–40) × 10⁴ Pa, the pressure is transmitted via a pressure-sensing line to the pressure relay, which de-energizes the motor and stops the pump. As water is consumed, the water level in the pressure tank drops; when the pressure falls to (15–20) × 10⁴ Pa, the pressure relay re-energizes the circuit, the motor starts, and the pump resumes water supply.
The application of pressurized water tanks not only resolves onboard water supply needs but also reduces power consumption. These systems are lightweight, compact, and can be installed in low-lying areas; they feature automatic control, contributing to energy conservation and emission reduction. As a result, they have become essential equipment on modern medium- and small-sized passenger and cargo vessels.
